This is a Buffet Crampon E11 model Bb soprano clarinet. Buffet has long been the leader among clarinet manufacturers. The E11 is a very highly regarded intermediate level instrument. It is made of grenadilla wood and features silver plated key-work. This is the perfect instrument for advancing students.

The logos on this instrument are no longer visible. For quite a while the E11 was made with a logo that was essentially a paint stamp applied to the surface of the instrument but not actually imprinted into the wood. These have a tendency to wear off over time. This is well documented on the internet in case you care to investigate it. This clarinet is still easily identified as an authentic Buffet E11 based on its serial number (including the specific location on the instrument of the number, and the font used), the "Made in Germany" stamp (these were not made at the main factory in France), and the plastic actuating pins for the left-hand pinky keys.

Under the correct light angles, residue ink from the logo is visible on the barrel and on the upper joint. An attempt was made to photograph these "ghost images;" the barrel image is included.

This instrument is in excellent physical condition, and ready to play right out of the box. The pads, although not brand new, are in very good condition, and sealing properly. It has just been inspected and serviced as needed.

The wood body is in very good condition. There are no cracks or past crack repairs. There are no chips to the tenons or tone holes. It has minimal light scratches/scuffs consistent with normal use. All of the keys are moving freely and rebounding properly when released. It has nice snappy action. The silver-plate finish on the keys is fully intact, with minimal tarnish. The pads are in excellent condition and nice and clean. A suction test reveals an excellent seal, and it plays easily from top to bottom. The tenon corks are also in great shape. This instrument has a nice solid feel when assembled. It doesn't wobble due to compressed corks. 

This instrument comes in its original case. The case is in very good condition with normal light wear and tear. The interior is clean and odor free.
