Here at Al's Music, we believe music is important - you're never too old or too young to get into it or get back into it. Whether you're looking for a group to play with or concerts to attend, we want to keep music accessible. If you have a gig, and need an audience or ringer(s), please contact the shop and let us know so we can post your information here and on our Musician's Board outside the shop.
Broome Street Bands - This local community band is free to join with no dues of any kind. We only require you show up with a smile on your face and ready to play some music. Musicians of all levels, all instruments, all ages, all abilities, are welcome to join us. We meet Monday nights at Drew Methodist Church in Port Jervis. Through these many years it has grown to a Full Wind Ensemble, a Church Band and Marching Band. We also have Brassanova, a brass quintet. If you don't see what you like, and want to start a new small group, just ask! We'd love to have it. The band also has a scholarship program for those in school, and counts as community service for honor societies. The Parting Glass Band - Al and Patti's traditional Irish band. They can be seen playing live at many of the pubs in Port Jervis. Need an Irish Band for your event? Contact them at 845-858-2475 or www.ThePartingGlassBand.com. We also have merch for the band here at the shop. Support local music!!
TubaChristmas - Since 2021, we've had a TubaChristmas concert in Port Jervis. Don't know about it? This is an annual international event for players of baritone, euphonium, tuba, sousaphone, helicon, serpent, ophicleide, saxhorn, cimbasso, and other tuba-family instruments to get together and play 4-part Christmas carols, and for the rest of us to enjoy the music!! Ours is the first Sunday after Thanksgiving, and part of the Christkindl Markt on Front Street. Preregistration is encouraged (link on Facebook), although in-person registration begins at 10am, rehearsal is at 11am, and the concert is at noon.
