This model has a gold plated lip plate. With the specifications many teachers recommend for students upgrading, the Gemeinhardt 3SB is one of the most popular intermediate flutes on the market today. It comes complete with a case and black nylon case cover. All C flute headjoints are made by Gemeinhardt in Elkhart, Indiana, USA.

No, there is no effect acoustically; it can help deter reaction to nickel silver or silver. Some just prefer it cosmetically.
